How nationwide delivery works

Every bird is shown to you live on a FaceTime, WhatsApp or Zoom call before any deposit changes hands, so you see exactly which chick you’re reserving. From there, you can collect at the Fort Myers aviary, or we arrange hand-delivery to your home through our own staff or a local courier partner we’ve used before — the same door-to-door approach whether you’re a short drive away or across the state line. No cargo holds, no airline pet programs: your bird travels with a person, not as freight.

Is it legal to buy an African grey in the US?

Yes, for a captive-bred bird bought from a US aviary. Congo African greys (Psittacus erithacus) have been listed on CITES Appendix I since 2017, and the US Wild Bird Conservation Act bars importing wild-caught or foreign-bred greys as pets. That’s why every Grey Haven bird is bred here in Florida and sold only to buyers already living in the US — there’s no import paperwork to sort out, because the bird never leaves the country.

What to check before you buy, anywhere in the country

• A live video call with the actual bird before any deposit or payment.
• A closed leg ring, fitted only in the first days of life — proof the bird was captive-bred, not wild-caught.
• A DNA sexing certificate from an independent lab.
• An avian vet check, with the date and practice named.
• No surprise fees for crates, “import permits” or insurance once you’ve agreed a price — and never gift cards or crypto.
