Live video call first
You see the bird on FaceTime, WhatsApp or Zoom before any deposit or payment.
Closed-ringed at hatch
A closed ring can only be fitted to a chick, which is proof of captive breeding. The ring number is on the listing.
DNA sexed, lab certified
Sex is confirmed by an independent lab. The certificate reference is on the bird's record.
Avian vet checked
Every bird is examined by an avian vet before it goes home. The date and practice are listed.
Fully weaned only
Birds leave only when eating independently. Unweaned birds are never sold.
Collection or local delivery
Collect from the aviary, or our staff or a named local pet delivery partner bring the bird to you. No airlines, no surprise fees in transit.
The first sixteen weeks
- Week 0–3
Parent-raised
Chicks stay with their parents for the first weeks. We candle, log and weigh daily.
- Week 3–10
Hand-feeding
Hand-fed on a weighed schedule in our nursery, handled daily by the same two keepers.
- Week 10–12
Fledging
First flights in a padded flight room. We never clip before a bird has learned to fly.
- Week 12–16
Weaning
Fresh food, pellets and forage replace formula at the bird's own pace. No forced weaning.
- Week 16+
Ready to go home
DNA-sexed, avian vet checked and ringed. Goes home with its papers by collection or local delivery.
The rules we breed under
Congo African greys (Psittacus erithacus) are listed on CITES Appendix I. Captive-bred birds may be sold within the country where they were raised, under that country’s rules, so every bird we list is sold only to a buyer in its own country and collected in person from its aviary.
In the United States, the Wild Bird Conservation Act bars importing greys as pets, so US buyers buy from our US aviary. In Canada, import and export need CITES permits, and provincial rules apply to sales. In the UK, every bird is sold under its own Article 10 certificate issued by APHA.
